For many of us, Christmas is the most exciting time of the year! However, as a Christian, I want Easter to be just as special ~ or even moreso ~ than Christmas!! Jesus death on the cross and His resurrection are the foundation for my faith…I want to instill this importance to my children! So, usually, for a few weeks leading up to Easter, we do lots of Christ-centered and still FUN things to celebrate Easter and Jesus resurrection!! I wanted to share with you some of our favorite traditions and resources.
First of all, there are some beautiful Easter picture books to make your learning and reading time take on new meaning for the season! Homeschool Share has a few unit studies on some of these wonderful titles as well!
Here are the Easter titles from Homeschool Share! (My 2 personal favorites are The Legend of the Easter Egg with an awesome lapbook AND Parable of the Lily with another great lapbook for the younger crowd!)
We usually do a Tomb Cake each year! The picture above is just a simple bundt cake cut in half and then stood up on a platter!! I put flowers and green “grass” (coconut) around the tomb…and a piece of white cloth inside to show that Jesus was RISEN!!
