Benefits of the Fourth of July Scavenger Hunt

This July 4th Scavenger Hunt is great as a go-along with your Independence Day theme. It provides many benefits for your student.

  • Scavenger hunts boost observation skills. As your child looks for objects, he will develop better observation skills.
  • Scavenger hunts require movements; this promotes gross motor development.
  • A scavenger hunt can provide safe sensory input for your student (see the waving flag, taste the yummy cupcake, listen to the band playing, etc.)
  • If you work on the scavenger hunt as a team, it will promote cooperation and social skills development.
  • You can use the scavenger hunt as a springboard for a discussion about why we celebrate Independence Day as well as American symbols.

Additionally, the bonus items will increase visual discrimination skills as your child has to find someone wearing the various items.
