1. Big Hungry Bear
Discuss what bears eat. If you have the opportunity, go to the library and check
out a nonfiction book about bears.
2. Strawberry Treats
What can you make with strawberries? Strawberry shortcake, strawberry pie,
strawberry ice cream, fruit salad, and so much more! Have fun discussing your
favorite treats with this mini book. Be sure to make some strawberry foods this
week!
3. S is For
What starts with the letter S? Walk around the house with a laundry
basket and collect as many items as you can find that begin with S.
4. Describing Words
The title of this book has some words to describe the mouse, the strawberry,
and the bear. Discuss this with your student. You do not have to introduce a
young student to the words noun and adjective. Just say "describing words."
| Noun | Adjectives (describing words) |
| mouse | small |
| strawberry | red, ripe |
| bear | big, hungry |
As you complete the shutteflap book, try to think of new words to describe bear, mouse, and strawberry. You also get to describe sun, tree, and knife.
5. Strawberry Plant
What are the different parts of a strawberry plant? Find out with this minit
book.
6. Halves
The mouse cut the strawberry in half. Discuss halves with your student. Buy
some fruit at the store and cut each piece in half and share it.
7. Disguise
The mouse puts on a disguise. Discuss why he would do that. If your student
could disguise herself, who or what would she be?
8. Fruit and Color Cards
Match the fruits to their corresponding color cards.
coconut = white
kiwi = brown
grapes = purple
lemon = yellow
blueberries = blue
cherry = red
watermelon = pink
Granny Smith apple = green
You can also play a game of memory match with these cards.
