Waddle, waddle, waddle, waddle. The winter penguins are waddling around hoping that it is time to go fishing! Your students can help catch some fish with these free penguin matching shapes worksheets.

Penguin Matching Shapes Worksheets

These simple print and go penguin shape matching activity pages are perfect for practicing shape recognition. If you have the time, sit down with your student and introduce or review the names of the shapes. You may want to count the sides of some of the shapes together (count the eight sides of the octagon or the four sides of the diamond).

Ten shapes are included in this penguins shape matching activity: octagon, oval, heart, diamond, star, rectangle, hexagon, square, triangle, and circle.

The goal of the activity page is to locate a shape on the left side of the page and then to find the same shape on the right side of the page. Match the (star) penguin to the (star) fish.

You can encourage your student to get the job done by pretending that the shape penguins are hungry, and they need to catch some shape fish.

Benefits of the Shapes Matching Activity

These penguin shapes matching pages promote shape recognition; you can also use them to boost fine motor skills. Students will use fine motor skills to draw lines from the penguin shapes to the fish shapes.

Additionally, if you choose the black and white version included in the download, your student can use fine motor skills to color the penguins and the fish.
