The family kept repeating, “We’re not scared!” Use this as a springboard for a discussion about emotions. Use the t-book images to discuss different emotions and when we feel them.

Mud Poem
Squelch! Squerch! We’ve got to go through it!

Have fun reading the mud poem together. Would you student like to play in the mud? Make some chocolate pudding together and “finger paint” with it. Alternatively, you could go outside and make some good old-fashioned mud pies. Whatever you choose, have some sensory fun with your student.

Changing the Story Simple Fold
Would your student like to go on a bear hunt? An elephant or ostrich hunt? A porcupine or platypus hunt? What animal would he like to search for? Use this book to record his answer.
