Summer is such a fun time to get outside and enjoy God’s creation! Of course, each season gives us many possibilities for nature study, but I think sometimes during the Summer, we have more “free” time and thus can spend time on a more focused subject! Why not make it science?
Here are a few science topics to spark your child’s curiosity:
Animal Studies ~ take a peek at ALL the animals you can learn about from HSS! I bet there is something there that would spark your child’s interest! Animal studies have always been my kids favorites! Bears, birds, cats, dogs, farm animals, fish, horses, insects…and many more!
Ocean Studies ~ Are you going to the beach?? What a great time to learn about God’s magnificent oceans & sea creatures! Look at all these Ocean titles! You could spend a year here! (and at the beach, right?? Take me, please!)
Plant Study ~ Another favorite summer study is all the PLANTS: gardening, flowers, vegetables!! We planted a few veggies this year and I always like to read a few of our favorites and do “mini-studies” with things we are doing in our own home. Gardening is SUCH a learning experience for our children! Even if you only plant 1 or 2 things indoor! Plant something with your child this summer! And for your older kids, there is an entire Botany lapbook!
Whatever you do, as your regular school year comes to an end, get outside and enjoy creation with your children! Summer is the perfect time to turn simple, ordinary moments in God’s creation into sweet memories together…and your child is learning whether or not you plan a full-blown unit study! And if you do want to plan ahead, there is so much to choose from at HSS.
