  1. I would use this to keep up with the costs of homeschooling and get the extra supplies and helps that we would need for our classroom. Things like this are a blessing.

  2. I would pay off a doctor bill I have been holding onto for a few months and then probably spend some on school supplies and upcoming birthdays.

  3. Finish purchasing curriculum. Plus my vacuum broke so a new one. I can’t concentrate with dust and pet hair floating around. Lol

  4. Oh my $500! I could buy the much needed school supplies for the year. There are some resources I could purchase and I could actually buy real books rather than use the free kindle books for our first year of CM/AO. I would love to have all the real books! $500 would be put to good use here!

  5. I would load up the craft closet, buy some books and curriculum helps from some of Homeschool Share’s sponsors,Maestro classics looks awesome! I mean “Casey at the Bat, really? We just read that poem, would love to hear it with music and drama! And definitely a kit from Nancy Larson science. Those look awesome. And some 4D cityscape puzzles from Amazon for our geography. I’d also get a used keyboard. We want to play with music this year. Lots of stuff! The list goes on and on and on…..but I’ll stop now. : )

  6. I’ve been thinking about getting an iPad that I could use with the kids for school – it’s pretty much out of reach now, but if I won . . . not so out of reach!

  7. We would buy three Radian carseats so we can put our two newest family members three across in the backseat!

  8. We have a great homeschool used book store here and I have been eyeing a Physics curriculum for my son so that’s the first thing I would get!

  9. I would get some curriculum including Teaching Textbooks Algebra, and some kind of tablet nook or kindle. Thanks!

  10. This is an awesome giveaway. There is a lot of things that i would be able to buy as this is my first year homeschooling. I have already started to buy up a whole bunch of things, but if i won the money i would be able to get my classroom for my children finished, and looking like fun. I would be able to buy some fun games for my preschoolers, to enjoy their time learning. But anyone that won this kind of money would put it to great use. Thanks for this wonderful giveaway.

  11. I would take the Amazon GC and get us a kindle fire and load it up with books and apps for our days when we’re on the road and not at home for school time πŸ™‚

  12. I can’t imagine winning $500! But if I did, I would buy my 1st grader’s curriculum for this coming year…we went without one for kindergarten, but now I really want to try My Father’s World. Then I would buy some of the many kitchen items on my “wish list.” I make most of our food from scratch and try to feed my kids things that are good for them. I would love to have a dehydrator, a waffle maker, a vitamix, a cast iron skillet, the list goes on. πŸ™‚

  13. Wow–$500! There are a number of things I would do, first and foremost however is buy supplemental curriculum for my daughter. She is a kinesthetic learner, so she needs hands on projects, games, models and things like that to really cement her learning. These things are an expensive investment, but can be used over and over. I am currently in need of both plant and animal cell models, an “invisable man” so that she can put the parts of the human body together and see how they work, and a number of crafts for American history (conastoga wagon, Mayflower, etc). With any money left over, I would invest in field trips. I really want to take her to Boston and Plymouth this year, and although the drive isn’t far, hotel rooms aren’t cheap and neither are the tours.

  14. $500?!? As my girls get older, curriculum seems to get more and more costly…and “cutting corners” on the amount purchased becomes more unrealistic. So add my hat to the ring–a major curriculum purchase would be in my future! πŸ™‚

  15. I would finish purchasing this years curriculum, buy some rolling carts to organize our craft supplies and some new books for the children.

  16. What a blessing the gift cards would be. I would use some to buy art and music curriculum. Give my girls some to buy books. I would also shop for some Christmas presents.

  17. Wow, $500, what a wonderful prize / offer. First, I would tithe and then I would buy the missing curriculum pieces I have been trying to budget in for my 5 children.

Thanks for hosting this wonderful giveaway!

  18. $500 would go a long way in buying kindles for a ministry to train pastors in Africa and for a few organizational items to keep our school tea uncluttered.

  19. I would spend it on curriculum or family pictures. But my daughter is sitting next to me saying I should spend it on going to the beach. So, maybe that.

  20. I would love to win the 500.00 cash for use with homeschool materials that are needed for my 3 children, plus it will help with tuition for their CLassical Conversations class.

  21. What a blessing $500 would be! The first thing we would do is donate some of it to our local relief office to be used for school supplies/clothes for families in need. Then there are a few curriculum/helps that I’ve been wanting, and lastly, save the remainder for the things that will surely come up. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!

  22. Squee, I love daydreaming about this sort of thing. Let me see . . .
    – I could put that toward a nice sectional couch that all 9 of us can sit on to snuggle during read alouds.
    – I might add some new Maestro Classics CDs to our collection.
    – We’ve got Kindles, so maybe some new titles for everyone.
    – Replace the IPod Touch that broke after 4 years (we use it for audio books daily).
    – A peanut shaped therapy ball in each size for working with my son Mason who is a parapalegic due to his Spina Bifida – they’ll really help with strengthening core muscles so he can learn to roll over, sit up, and crawl.
    – Books books books.
    – Art supplies.

  23. Wow! I don’t remember the last time I had $500 to spend. I think we would take the Amazon gift card. We’re using MFW and FIAR this year and the book list is quite long. Thanks!

  24. I would buy new school supplies, and a science curriculum that I have been eyeing, and a language program from Rosette stone.

  25. My first year homeschool, I would definitely love to have $500.00 to spend on books and supplies!! I hope to purchase some programs that will last several years!! Love these sites!

  26. There’s so much we could do with it, and I’m not sure which we’d choose, but I’d either put it toward paying of all of our debt (on our way) or a fence so my kids can take their dog outside to play with them.

  27. I would get a Target gift card and use it to buy things for my daughter for her senior year of high school, for my son to go back to college and maybe a few new things for me and my new classroom. I’m not a home school parent but I really like your resources and a lot of the ideas on your site!

  28. $500! Wow! Each month our homeschooling group has a 2 PE activities, skating and bowling. Although we get somewhat of a discount, it ends up costing quite a bit since I take 5 kids. Sometimes field trips are out of town and with gas being so high for our big SUV,(Remember, 5 kids) so unfortunately we have to pass on these. With an extra $500 we could add a lot of extra “fun” to our homeschooling year.

  29. Wow, what I could do with $500.00. I would like to buy a luna document camera, and update my supply of Math stuff.
And I can keep listing more but 500.00 only goes so far.
Thank you for this opportunity, it is great….

  30. I could definitely use an Amazon giftcard! I am getting ready to begin homeschooling for the first time this year.

  31. I would use the money to buy lapbooking and notebooks products. This is my daughter’s favorite way to study a subject and I really like being able to buy a unit study and then alter it or add to it as we need.

  32. This is my first year of homeschooling…so this would definately help get our curriculum and start our home library!

  33. I would take my family out for dinner (we hardly never ever go out as a family because its so expensive) first. Then I think I would spend the rest on curriculum and our new office/craft/schoolroom.

  34. My pick of how to spend it is a little boring… I would put it towards our midwife bills coming at the end of October for baby number 5. A more exciting way I would use it… more curriculum of course!!! πŸ˜‰

  35. I think I would use it to take a trip to see family. We live so far away from everyone else and it would be fun to visit them.

  36. i’ve benn thinking of getting a yearly pass to the local science museum…so that and buy school suplies and theres a couple of things we need to do on the house

  37. Wow! What a generous offer! I would probably use it toward organizing our atelier space and home-education materials. We just began this past school year but haven’t had the funds to purchase support materials/curriculum. Thank you for this opportunity!

  38. $500, WOW! My head is spinning with all the cool stuff I’d like to do. I would love to get some bookshelves and set up a reading corner, or maybe convert the space under our deck to an outdoor classroom space. I could even be tempted to get an ipad.

  39. With $500, I wouldn’t have to worry about the vacation we’re planning to drive up and visit Grandma and Grandpa. Right now, we’re really stretched and wondering how we’re going to cover the gas from TX to MI. I’d also love to use the extra to pay a little more down on some bills! Thanks!

  40. I would love to get an iPad to use with my Literacy students. I know there many apps that would help me reach some of the reluctant readers. Thank you for all the resources you share.

  41. I would use the money to help pay for curriculum and to buy some extras that we wouldn’t be able to purchase otherwise. Thanks for the opportunity!

  42. My 5 year old would choose some great books . The money would come in handy for homeschool supplies and curriculum. I don’t spend that much per year, but whatever is left over would be applied to the following year.

  43. I own a small preschool in an historic rural town in Missouri. I love my job and my sweet boys and girls. However, I’m constantly saddened and in awe of their “sense of entitlement.” Am I alone in this observation? As a result I am in the process of establishing a non-profit extension of my school. Through this I will attempt to expand their scope from “me” to “others”. My desire is to light the spark to understanding that having is a priviledge that not all share. If I won this $500 giveaway I would funnel it into the non-profit with funds used to aid in the early childhood education of a child(ren) for whom funding or access to a quality program is a challenge. My students will be involved in all decisions as to whom and on what the monies will be spent on. Thus creating a broader view of the world in which they live. Big task but I can just invision the rewards….

  44. Oh, the choices! We want to learn how to make cheese, so I would buy the supples for that. Subscriptions to Calliope and Ask magazines from Cricket, and some used bookshelves and a small rug for our work area.

  45. I have no idea what I would use it for. I think I’d probably use it toward extra curricular activities such as gym and swim and art/music lessons.

  46. Honestly? I am just starting now with homeschooling (I have a 3 and a 4 & 1/2 year old) so would certenly use $500 for homeschooling material. Where to start? πŸ™‚

  47. Oh my goodness! 500 dollars! I am not even sure what all I would get. I have never had that much at one time to spend at one time on homeschool supplies…..I know I would buy tons of living books and I have been eyeing certain curriculum helps that you can use for all grades for all science subjects. I would splurge on the fun extras like hands on models and science experiments…..I could go on and on.
Thanks for the chance to win:) Blessings!

  48. I have been exploring for a little bit for any high quality articles or weblog posts in this sort of area . Exploring in Yahoo I at last stumbled upon this web site. Studying this info So i am happy to show that I’ve an incredibly just right uncanny feeling I came upon exactly what I needed. I most indubitably will make sure to do not fail to remember this web site and provides it a glance regularly.

  49. I would use the $500 to invest in Rosetta Stone. I’d love for my son to learn a second language, but it’s so very expensive!

  50. I would buy curriculum and extra activities that we always leave out for budget reasons. I would also sign my daughter up for that online course that we want to try.

  51. Well, some of the money would go to finalizing our adoption here in the states…just one more step to go! The rest would go to buying curriculum and books for this year, and any leftover money would be used for field trips!

  52. $500 would sure help out here, I would either buy my materials for school next year, replace my dying laptop, or fill my fridge/freezer/pantry instead of just getting by. Or fill the heating oil tank for winter.

  53. I would use half of it to buy some very cool supplies for the girls teachers. The other half would be to organize their playroom and get some more art supplies for my crew. Thank you for the chance to do something great.

  54. $500??? I could easily spend it 5x over! I’d probably use it towards a trip to the Creation Museum in KY because we’re studying ancient history this year starting with Creation. It would be an amazing experience for our family but right now it’s just a dream. πŸ™‚

  55. $500….hum. Well I could use it for so many things. I could get a few things off of Amazon or buy some well needed new clothes or just treat myself for a little ice cream. but probably go to helping us with the last of our school things and save for a new car.

  56. At the moment, to be honest, $500 would be used to almost pay the mortgage. I’m a SAHM, and things are really tight for us right now. My parents helped us out for a couple of years, and since then (my daughter is now 44 mos) every time we get thissss close to having to use our 2nd mortgage to make the payments on the 1st, something unexpected or semi-expected comes through and we get some relief. The tax refund arrives, or a I paid some money I’ve been waiting on for some freelance web design work that I’ve done, or we get a gift or a generous insurance settlement that was more than the repairs cost (they didn’t want receipts, told us to use it as we saw fit!), etc.

Maybe this could be the “unexpected something” to get the September mortgage covered?

  57. I’d buy some of the extra things for my boys that I haven’t been able to buy. Games and toys to help with their learning. Supplies for experiments and labs and such.

  58. I am just getting ready to buy the schoolbooks we need for the coming year & $500 would definitely cover that as well as some fun, normally out of our reach field trips! We might even use some of it for things the new baby needs!

  59. Wow!!!! $500 Oh there are so many areas that would be helpful. My daughter would so love to be in gymnastics and that would cover quite a few classes. Thank you so much for the opportunity to win. May many blessings come your way.

  60. I would buy the Ikea book shelves for our homeschool plus some extras for homeschool. I would also renew our museum membership.

  61. I would love to get an android tablet for our family to share. Anything left over I would probably put toward a zoo membership.

  62. I am just starting my “homeschool journey” with my 4 year old and man can it be EXPENSIVE! I would love to win this to be able to purchase the All About Spelling and Reading curriculum that I have been wanting. I could also put it toward future curriculum and supplies.

  63. I love books but we can only afford so much. I am raising readers and down to my 4year old we’re all readin and enjoying to do so.. I’d consider the winning money my boys and spend it on books and learning material for them, God willing

  64. I’d use it to help buy this year’s curriculum — and then put the rest toward next spring’s trip to Disney World!
meg (dot) wilson (at) gmail (dot) com

  65. Well we have some home repairs that need to be done – most importantly fixing some old stairs and making them safer. Just want to use the money in ways that will make our home safer and cozier. Thanks for this contest!

  66. I would use this towards more hands-on learning games and projects and/or season passes to the zoo or science center.

  67. I would love to get some new supplies for my homeschooled preschooler, and pay for gymnastics classes for my older child. Lots and lots of books I’m sure we are a reading family. I would do a whole lot with $500!

  68. I would put some of it towards a nice science program that my three boys could all use and the rest would go towards an iPad. I’ve heard there are so many great things you can use them for – to assist in homeschooling and for play. Thanks for the chance to win!

  69. What a fun question….How to spend $500???? Hmmm…..let me count the (educational) ways! I would love to donate some to Ami for her upcoming adoption! πŸ˜‰ Then I might buy my family an e-reader (Kindle, Nook, etc) and upload some aps and e-books for all to enjoy. Of course, I still like to hold a “real” book, too, so those would be on the list as well. We are book junkies around here. I don’t think we could EVER have enough book (of any kind)!!! A microscope might be fun to add to our homeschool goodies, too, though. The possibilities are just ENDLESS, but I know no matter what I spent the $500 on it would be an educational investment for my family!!!

Thanks for the opportunity! God bless you all for your continued generosity!

  70. Love this opportunity! I would use it to purchase my oldest child’s math curriculum and then I’d put the money into savings for hospital expenses this fall when my 5th baby is born.

  71. I’d be able to afford some of the much-needed items for two of my five children to be homeschooled this year! πŸ™‚

  72. Wow, $500! If I were to win this I would use the money to buy a laminating machine and some other homeschool supplies! Then, I think I would use the rest to purchase real books from Amazon.com!! πŸ™‚

  73. $500! Wow. I’d spend it on books, lapbooks, books, and various fun curricula. Perhaps some chocolate as well to share with the kids as we curl up on the sofa reading our new books … mmmmmmm.

  74. I would use part of the money to get a full check up at the doctor and dentist (we don’t have insurance). Other part I would donate to soe friends that are going to China as missionaries. And another part I would give to a church I know in Peru, who currently have legal problems with their retreat center, they need the money to pay the lawyer.

  75. I’d use it to re-fund our savings account – we had to dip into it last month when the car died. Thanks for the contest – what a fun idea!

  76. I would buy homeschool supplies for the year, visit the optometrist and get new contact lenses, and maybe purchase a family pass to the zoo or Science and Nature Museum.

  77. I would like to take my children on some nice fieltrips. We would visit a large city about 6 hours from our home. I would like to take them to an art museum, zoo, theatre, and aquarium. So they can have some experiences we don’t have in our hometown. I would use the rest to stock our shelves for the fall and winter. We have a very small food budget. I would also donate some bags of food to the food bank.

  78. I would buy a microscope, then I would buy next year’s curriculum, then I would buy at least two more bookshelfs and then I would treat myself to something!

  79. Wow–what an amazing give-away! I would use the money for books, games, and school supplies. I have a good friend that is moving to Sierra Leone, Africa next month and is planning to homeschool her 7 and 8 year old for the next 3-4 years. I would donate $250 for her to use too.

  80. My husband has been off work since the beginning of February and just accepted a job in another state. He leaves in a couple of weeks and I will stay here with the kids until next summer, while we get through the school year and attempt to sell our house. If I had $500 I would let my 17 year old get her driver’s license and use the money to pay for her insurance. It sure would be nice to have another driver in the family, and if she could drive, she would have more options as far as where to apply for a job.

  81. $500 would go a long way. I could buy books, school supplies (paper, glue, crayons, etc.). We are actually going to have a homeschool room this year so I could also buy some chairs and bookshelves. Thank you for the giveaway!

  82. I would put the money toward a new refrigerator, which just so happens to be on the blink right now. Or, college expenses for my 2 oldest daughters…. hmmmmm, decisions, decisions.

  83. Well since we are in the process of moving, I would put the money towards our moving fund. However, it might just go towards school books. πŸ˜‰

  84. I’m having a hard time at this moment truly deciding what I’d do with $500-maybe give to my church, maybe be selfish and go shopping, maybe give to my parents to help them pay off debt, maybe take a vacation with my family… Who knows???

  85. I was just at Target today and noticed the 5% discount I would get for just using a Target gift card. So…I would definitely buy a swimming pool for my 10 year old’s birthday for the yard! We could learn how to adjust the salt in the water to make it more conducive to swimming without chemicals! That’s my kind of home schooling!

  86. Wow, $500! I would buy my son some top quality art supplies, I would buy my daughter craft supplies and the rest would go toward misc things needed around the house.

  87. $500 is a lot to work with! My kids call me the coupon queen so I would do my very best to stretch the $500. We would buy books for school and other school supplies. Hope we win!

  88. I would use the money to buy pay for a few months of therapy on lexercise for my daughter. I won a free evaluation for her and she IS dyslexic. If we could afford a few months therapy, it would give us the tools we need to teach her at home school. We will do our best one way or another, but a few sessions with lexercise would make a huge difference!

  89. If I win the $500.00, I will buy a bookshelf to store all my resources on. I teach special education and I have collected many books that I resort to when needed. I’m sure I could find just the right bookshelf on Amazon!

  90. My husband was out of work for a year and a half until six months ago, and things are still very tight. I would use $500 to do something special with my kids, like a trip to the beach. They have been such good sports about our tight finances, I would just love to splurge on them!

  91. I would use the prize to add some fun things to our school days– like art and music, and some geography puzzles for starters…

  92. This would be awsome to win! We’ve been having a hard time lately making ends meet. Groceries, bills, etc. This could help in many ways! Thanks for the chance to win!

  93. Amazon card… So many books and supplies I wanted to buy but couldn’t …. This would really help for my daughter’s first year of official homeschool supplies for fall!

  94. I will indulge myself on a big literature book spending spree! It will be great to buy those books about the classics.

  95. I would use this money to create a space my daughter and I can use for a learning enviroment. A space that is relaxing, well organized, and just plain fun to be in. Being on disability only allows for the bare essentials, so this would be an amazing gift. We would also use part of the winning to donate to our charity of choice that we will volunteer with throughout the school year. How awesome you all are doing this. Thanks so much!!! May God Bless you all,and good luck to all…

    God Bless,
    Kim Hogan

  96. A true gift this would be to anyone. Thank you for offering this giveaway. I would use it to help build up my homeschool resources as I am just starting this year with my Kindergartener. I would also use it to help supply the Sunday School I teach as they have no kids programs right now and I am developing it all from scratch and little money.

  97. What would I do with $500? I would buy curriculum for my 4 kids! I have one in high school, middle school, elementary school, and preschool. That’s a lot of books to buy! My high school student needs new math, history, literature, and science.

  98. hmmmm…..so many choices! I would put it towards paying off school loans or take a road trip with the kiddos. Or maybe a few needed repairs on the house. We could put in in the fund for our next adoptions. What a fun decision to have to make!

  99. $500!!! Oh my, I could buy so much that we really need! I rarely have money for curriculum, we do a lot of mix and match and digging for free/cheap curriculum (Thus my love affair with homeschoolshare.com!!). I would love to buy some good books for the kids, a couple curriculums that I have been dying to get for the kids but haven’t had the money for! I could spread this out into at least 2 years worth of curriculum!

  100. I would love to win this and need this so much. I have 2 children with learning disabilities so their books are more expensive. This would give me the opportunity to purchase stuff thats been on my wish list

  101. That’s about the same amount as the used sets of bunk beds we’ve been looking at for the girls’ room, so that would be the perfect thing to use it on πŸ™‚

  102. There are so many great Science texts, supplemental reading books, and manipulatives for my 3 girls I’d love to add to our homeschool supplies with $500. I’d also love to be able to provide Itunes and Amazon gift cards for some friends of our family whose sweet 6 year old little girl went from healthy to having a tumor removed and stage four cancer diagnosed last month. As we are blessed, we want to bless others. πŸ™‚

  103. wow…$500…I would buy lots of educational goodies like Your Story Hour cd’s, the new Jonothan Park, and whatever other great hands-on educational toys I could find.

  104. I would buy ink cartridges for all the copies and things I print out. I can get those on Amazon, as well the many other things on my Amazon wish list. Love seeing others ideas and wishes!

  105. Wow what a prize! We’re new to home schooling. We’re still trying to set up resources! My merry band of girls and I would love to stock out with craft supplies, filling the ever-growing wish list of books, so much! We have been wanting to set up a ‘school’ bank account for the girls to pay their own costs, this would be the best start!! Always dreaming!!!

  106. Wow! 500$…honestly I think I would buy a book each for all of my homeschooling friends. I LOVE books! Anna in the Uk. x (P.s. Thanks for this blog it has helped me so much!)

  107. I would purchase some books we weren’t able to afford this year and some organizational stuff and let my daughter take dance lessons she has been wanting.

  108. Wow! $500.00 would be a huge boost for school books. I could even get that kindle for an electronic library. πŸ™‚

  109. Wow! What a great giveaway! If I were to win, I would use most of the blessing for the school year, some new books, and maybe a trip to our local water park for some end-of-the-summer fun πŸ˜‰

  110. Yum! I’d love to spend $500 on school without an accounting to DH. Some books for me, some books for ds elder, some books for ds younger, maybe I’d even get a book for the dog…

  111. $500! Are you kidding? So many options! I would look at getting the rest of our curriculum, or a new computer, ours is not right! Or an iPad, or art supplies, field trips, new shoes for 5 boys, I could go on and on!

  112. I would use the money to get the rest of our curriculum and maybe one of those book binding machines for our notebooks/lapbooks. And ink for our printer!!

  113. Wow…. my husband just lost his job, so it would be spent very well on curriculum for my kids for next year. Never in our family have things been this tight. What a great win this would be! Blessings.

  114. I’d love to a chance to win $500. We have special eating needs here and I would buy some allergy friendly products through Amazon and books. Thanks for the giveaway!

  115. $500 dollars would definitely help with purchasing books, museum passes and supplies for our school year. Thanks for helping!
