Three Names Past/Present Chart
Three Names is a great way to introduce your student to the concept of
past and present. After you read the book (or after multiple readings of
the book), ask your student to think of some of the things in the book that seem
different than what he is accustomed to (objects that were used a long time ago
that aren't quite as common today or that have been replaced by a present day
invention). After your discussion, use the pre-made table and clip-art
pieces to make a past/present chart based on Three Names. You
can allow your student to cut, sort, and paste the items on to the table.
Teacher's Note: Some of the "past" items are still used
today, but not as readily as the modern item (i.e. clothesline vs. clothes
dryer; woodstove vs. furnace, etc.)
