Diurnal and Nocturnal Birds
There are two main types of birds of prey: diurnal (active during the day) and
nocturnal (active during the
night).
First find out --
Which birds of prey are diurnal? (eagles, hawks, and many more!)
Which birds of prey are nocturnal? (owls, and ____)
Research each bird and compare the two types of birds of prey (use a Venn
Diagram to record your findings).
Starting Point
Start by finding the answers to these questions:
Do all birds of prey eat the same types of food?
How does a bird of prey’s diet vary with the time of day during which it is
active?
What difficulties would an owl encounter while hunting during daylight hours?
What
about an eagle hunting at night?
