1. Eight lions are reading newspapers, four lions are napping, and two
lions are reading Daniel's Duck. How many lions are reading?
2. Andy has six handkerchiefs. If he uses one to bandage the lion's
paw and loses another one, how many are left?
3. The Big Top Circus has four lions. The Little Top Circus has one
lion. How many more lions does the Big Top Circus have?
4. Circus tickets cost 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children.
How much will it cost for Andy, his father, and his grandfather to go to the
circus? How much change will they get from a two dollar bill?
5. A bag of popcorn is 10 cents. Andy bought three bags. How
much change will he receive from a fifty cent piece?
6. There are four mamma lions. Each one has two cubs. How many
lions are there in all?
7. There are fourteen lions. Six are napping. How many are
awake?
8. Eight boys went to the library. Each boy checked out two books.
How many books were checked out in all?
9. The library has ten books about tigers. There are twice as many
books about lions. How many books are there about large cats?
10. Andy read four books the first week, six books the second week, and
eight books the last week. How many books did Andy read the first and last
week?
