Activities and Templates

Note:  Not all of these mini-books will be useable in every lapbook.

 

  1. Parts of a Story- Beginning, Middle, and End
     
  2. Who's Who (list of characters and who plays each character)
    Option 1- Chart
    Option 2- Who Said That? Shape Book

 

  1. Music and Effects shape book
    Write about who played the music and the sound effects.

 

  1. Fact or Fiction Venn Diagram
    Log the events of the story.  Were they real?  Fictional?  Could they have happened?  Use this as an exercise in critical thinking.   If you'd like a template without pictures, here is one.

 

  1. Record facts about the episode in this Hotdog Book.  Cut the book out as one piece.  Here are instructions for folding a hotdog book.

 

  1. Use these shapes to record autobiographical information about the character or to record details about the character in the story. 

 

  1. Time line of the episode

 

  1. Use these lined pages to write an event in the episode as told by a secondary character (from a different point of view).

 

  1. Illustrate a scene in the radio show. Pretend you are watching it out the window. Don’t forget to add curtains (you can even use a stray piece of fabric for an added touch!)

 

  1. Make an advertisement to encourage others to listen to the episode.  Use these pre-made pages  or start from scratch and use blank paper.

 

  1. Have your student write a creative summary of the story with this tri-fold book.  He can write it up story board or graphic novel style.

 

  1. Design a CD Label for the Episode

 

  1. Have your student write journal entries from the main character's point of view inside this booklet.

 

  1. Make puppets and reenact the story.   You can store them in a pocket in your lapbook, if desired.  (no template)

 

  1. Based on the setting of the book (real or imaginary), create a map for the story.  (no template)

 

  1. Use part of the story for dictation practice and record in this book.

 

  1. Sponsor information balloon

 

  1. Use this minit book to describe the way the events, invention or discovery in the story ffects you now.

  1. Draw invention or discovery

 

  1. Facts about the invention, discovery or invention

 

  1. Feed the need (mini book as to why the invention, discovery or event was needed)

 

  1. Let’s not repeat (ways to avoid the problem that caused negative events)

 

  1. Listen to Two versions to the same story or event.  Compare the two using a Venn Diagram.
